EVER SINCE I WAS YOUNG I'VE BEEN OBSESSED
WITH STORIES

Growing up, my dreams were ever changing: artist, author, filmmaker...yet they all shared a common thread: storytelling. I’ve always been drawn to the power of stories, the way they connect us to the past and shape the way we see the world. Some of my fondest memories are the afternoons spent with my grandparents, listening as they brought the past to life through faded photographs and cherished recollections. Through them, I met the family I never got to know, glimpsing echoes of their laughter, love, and legacies in every story told.

I’ve always been drawn to things with history. Old books, well-worn trinkets, anything that carries the weight of a life once lived. Most people call me an old soul. I find beauty in nostalgia, in things that have been loved before. When I’m not behind the camera, I’m chasing my next creative pursuit, spending time with family, planning my next adventure, or getting lost in the pages of a good book.

Throughout my years, I struggled with being a perfectionist—so much so that it impacted my ability to live a full life. Over the years, I've learned to embrace imperfections, to see the beauty in them, and to this day, this is the foundation behind much of my work. I love a perfectly set photo just as much as the next person, but those aren't the photos that truly make my heart sing. It's the moments of connection that happen in a split second. Is it always the perfect photo? No—but if we are always in pursuit of perfection, it’s these little moments we risk missing.

The story of sitting around the table with your family and looking at old photos together is a true story from my own life. The photos we have aren't perfect, but they are a collection of memories of who we once were, and I now fondly refer to these as my "envelope photos." It’s the photo of my mom, pregnant, smiling at her dad. The photo of my grandpa making the most ridiculous face at my brother. Or the photo of my grandma holding me the day I was born. These are the photos I will forever cherish most.

My goal as a photographer is to strive for imperfection and to capture your "envelope photos." :)
